If you’re a Harry Potter fan, I’ve got a treat for you! If not…well you should be!

I started reading Harry Potter right before the first movie came out and was instantly hooked. I find the movies to be equally entertaining, which is why I love to host a theme party (see my Twilight party here) before each release! I recently had some friends of mine over in honor of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1.

HP is a great series to inspire creative food. Between the oh so British classics and the completely fictional food, there are so many choices! (Pardon the blur…not sure what happened to my camera that day)

Here are the recipes that I made for the event:

Quidditch Pie (I add peas)

Bat Wings- Frozen hot wings

Hagrid’s BBQ Meatballs

  • 1 (3 lbs) box frozen meatballs (or can make your own)
  • 2 cups barbecue sauce (I use Miss Diana)
  • 1 1/2 cups maple syrup
  • 2 cups pineapples (I used fresh but can substitute canned)
  • 1 green pepper (cut up)
  • 2 garlic cloves (cut each into 4 pieces)

Mix together barbeque sauce and maple syrup. Add pineapple, green pepper and garlic. Pour half the sauce into crockpot and add the meatballs. Cover with remaining sauce and cook for 6 hrs on low setting.

Herbology Experiment- Sliced veggies and dip

Parchment Scrolls

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 2 Tbsp commercial pesto
  • 6 thin slices orange cheddar (or American) cheese

Preheat the oven to 425. Spread the pesto evenly over the full sheet of puff pastry dough. Lay the cheese slices evenly over the pesto layer.Start rolling the long side of the dough and continue until reaching the middle of the pastry sheet. Roll the opposite end in to meet the first roll. Chill until the scroll holds its shape for cutting. (completely frozen is too difficult to cut). Cut the roll into half-inch thick slices with a bread knife. Place the slices on a cookie sheet lined with parchment. Bake at 425 ºF for approximately 15 minutes or until golden brown.

Cockroach Clusters (I add raisins)

Pumpkin Pasties (I use Snicker-doodle cookie dough)

Other great recipes can be found here.

Of course we watched the previous movie on DVD to get in the mood. After gorging ourselves on food, we excitedly went to the theater. It did not disappoint! I can’t wait for the final chapter!
