How would you like to have these beauties on your table?

These are the (now discontinued) Williams Sonoma Hayden Hurricanes. At over $100 a pop, there is no way they’re gracing my table. Fortunately, many thrifty bloggers like myself have figured out an alternative. Head down to your Dollar Store/Tree and pick up a couple of candlesticks and vases.

Get out your Gorilla Glue and line the rim of the candlestick with a thin strip of glue. Center it on the bottom of the vase.

Voila! WS style without the price.

You could vary them by using different sizes/shapes of vases. There are tons of options out there. If you can’t find these items at a Dollar Tree, you can find them at craft stores.

I’m so glad people have figured these out, they are so awesome! Cuz I am WAY to cheap to pay more than a few dollars for them :) Love your style and blog! Thanks for the comment at rosyredbuttons.blogspot.com, and for the invite to your link party tommorrow!

I also saw a cute idea where you can add burlap to your vase part of the lamp and use pretty “sticks” instead of candles inside the hurricane lamp. I am going to do some this weekend and will post on my site.

Vicky- That sounds awesome, I’d love for you to share that when you’re done!

Tammy- We didn’t have the curved lip ones, but I bet that really makes it a dead ringer!

Love this idea and ran to my local dollar tree the next day! Cute and easy to make. Also, I won’t feel too too bad if my maniac cat decides to knock these over!
